Glenn Ireland, M.Ed.
Doctoral Student
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics and later earned my Master’s degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland, shifting my career path toward working in a social science field. My most recent position was serving as an academic advisor to undecided college students which fostered a lot of my current research interests. I am broadly interested in career decision-making among college students and interventions that would help to facilitate academic major and career exploration. I also hope to explore the ways in which issues of inequality in education impact choices of academic major and career.

Thus far, I have defended a master’s thesis that explores the academic well-being of sexual minority college students and have started working towards a dissertation on a related topic. My ultimate goal is to build expertise in LGBTQ vocational issues and expand the use of social cognitive career theory based frameworks within this field.
